Finnish law relating to the supervision of bankrupt estates is almost entirely codified in the Act on the Supervision of the Administration of Bankrupt Estates that came into force on 1 March 1995. The office of the Bankruptcy Ombudsman was founded. Mr. Eero Lyytikäinen was appointed the first Bankruptcy Ombudsman on 1 March 1995.
The Office of the Bankruptcy Ombudsman is a member of the International Association of Insolvency Regulators (IAIR).
